Nez Perce Organic Beautification Project
![]() Herbal garden with 4 - 6' square beds and a gathering spot in the center. This space was previously a lawn. It was a community project to till the land, add horse manure, build the plant boxes, put the fence up, plant the seeds, care for the plants, harvest them, and learn to make herb based teas and healing salves. Children, adults, and the Elders all benefited from the project. |
In 1998 Linda worked as a Women's Wellness Educator for Ne Mee Poo Health of the Nez Perce Tribe in Lapwai Idaho. She facilitated the community organic Beautification Project as part of a horticulture therapy project. Members learned how to plant, grow, harvest, and prepare herbal teas, botanical oils, and skin salves under Linda's guidance. She spoke at the annual Horticulture Therapy Association convention in White Plains New York about the project. |
